iPad mini 7 will be released at the end of 2023

In 2021, Apple gave the iPad mini a long-awaited and major update. The iPad mini 6 is equipped with the powerful Apple A15 Bionic and can therefore handle the most demanding graphic tasks. Apple is reportedly now working on a successor to this tablet.

This successor is expected to appear at the end of this year at the earliest. The iPad mini 7 will then be released around the holidays, but it is also possible that the release date will be early 2024. In any case, it is certain that we can expect a new iPad mini.

iPad mini 7: Here’s what’s new

Not much is known about the new iPad mini yet. The biggest update to the seventh-generation iPad mini is likely to be a new processor, making the iPad mini even more powerful. In addition, the iPad mini 7 will no longer have an LCD screen, but the renewed mini-LED display as in the iPad Pro.

The iPad mini 6 is still equipped with Touch ID, because the sensor is incorporated in the on/off button at the top of the tablet. Unlocking via facial recognition will hopefully be possible with the iPad mini 7. In terms of design, the new iPad mini probably won’t get any major changes.

Will the iPad Fold replace the iPad mini 7?

So the iPad mini 7 may not arrive until 2024, which is also the year we expect Apple’s first foldable iPad. However, it is not expected that the iPad Fold will immediately replace the iPad mini 7.

The main reason is the price of the iPad Fold, which is expected to be (much) higher than the price of the iPad mini 7. By offering the iPad mini 7 for a lower price, Apple appeals to a wider audience.

In addition, the reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has adjusted his predictions for the foldable iPad: he now expects the iPad Fold in 2025 at the earliest. As a result, the iPad Fold will not replace the iPad mini for the time being.
