We get for the first time a picture of Xiaomi’s plans with its new 12 series. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra in particular catches the eye with its round camera island with no less than seven notches for lenses, sensors and flashes. The device does not get a second screen like its predecessor.

Xiaomi 12 leaked

The Xiaomi 12 launch is already pretty close, because according to rumors, Xiaomi will present the devices in China this month. However, the amount of rumors remains quite limited and until now we could not form a real picture of the design of the Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro and 12 Ultra.

The Chinese Mydrivers (source 1 and source 2) brings more clarity, because we now gain insight into the back thanks to a leaked mock-up of the phones that case manufacturers got their hands on. You can view the image above. The appearance of the Xiaomi 12 and the 12 Pro looks very similar and recognizable. The phone comes with a large main camera and we also see room for two other lenses and a flash. The devices will probably get a wide-angle sensor and telephoto camera, an earlier rumor already spoke of three 50 MP sensors.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra

We also cannot ignore the fact that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, just like its predecessor, is a real eye-catcher. This time it is not a second screen next to the camera that attracts attention, but the enormous camera island. The design is somewhat reminiscent of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro and the back is loaded with cameras, sensors and flashes. It is not yet known what exactly we can expect from that ultra-phone. Xiaomi may have collaborated with the German camera brand Leica for this phone.

The mock-ups leave us with many questions, but hopefully there will be more clarity about the devices in the coming weeks. We expect Xiaomi to launch the phones in Europe only in 2022. Xiaomi is also expected to release a Lite variant and the first information about the Xiaomi 12X already leaked earlier. There are two cheaper variants. It is not yet known which models will be available from us.
