How to secretly leave a WhatsApp group
Leaving a WhatsApp group can be tricky, but there are ways to do it quietly so no one notices.
We are in many WhatsApp groups these days. They can be very useful, but some are simply impossible to do. The step to leave the group can be (too) big. Everyone sees you get out and then the rumor mill starts spinning. You can prevent that!

Okay, you’ve decided it’s time to go. You’ve had enough of those nagging messages from old colleagues, annoying neighbors or birthday party groups that have been around for a long time. Going out completely, unfortunately, is not possible unseen. What you can do is mute the group. However, you will still receive messages. But you can go further, mute the group and archive it. Then you will not officially leave the group, but you will no longer see messages coming in. Also, the other members in the group will not see that you have ‘left’ the group.
There is a danger. Namely that someone sends you a targeted message within the group. Then you don’t see that, so you don’t respond. Then you will soon receive a message via via and you have to remove the group from the archive. Still, it’s worth it, many people don’t get targeted messages in such groups from WhatsApp.
Archiving
Convinced? Then go to the relevant group and tap the group name. There you will see the ‘mute’ or ‘mute’ function in the information. First turn it on by selecting ‘always’. Now you will no longer receive new notifications. Then it is important to archive the group. In your overview of chats, go back to the group and click on the group for a while.
