This is how advertising is supposed to land on many Android phones

Google earns its money with advertising and intends to expand its business more to include Android smartphones in the future. As has now become known, a company co-financed by Google is to bring advertising to Android smartphones. It is now known how this is supposed to work.

Glance is supposed to bring advertising to Android smartphones

With “at a Glance” (“at a glance” in German) Google has introduced a cool feature for its Pixel smartphones. Useful information about the weather, appointments or other important events is displayed on the lock screen. Most recently, with the Pixel 6 Pro (test), it was suggested to me that I should switch off the alarm clock on the bridging day so as not to be woken up unnecessarily early on the day off. Really practical function like that. But with Glance there is also a company co-financed by Google, that exactly want to use this technology for advertising (Source: TechCrunch).

Within the next two months, Glance intends to launch a lockscreen platform, initially in the United States, that will allow advertising to be displayed on the lock screen of Android smartphones in the Glance function. Cooperation with mobile phone providers is planned in the USA, so that the smartphones with a contract can perhaps be offered cheaper there if advertising is displayed. So far, the $2 billion company is on the road in Asia, but plans to expand into the West, according to the latest information.

Will Glance advertising also come to Germany?

One can assume that. If the infrastructure is there and cooperation partners can be found, which one can certainly assume in Germany, it would be conceivable that Glance advertising on Android smartphones would also be used in this country. Conversely, if you could save money for it, that wouldn’t be reprehensible either. If additional advertising is simply played in, this should certainly not please the fewest users. At Amazon, you also have the choice with the Fire devices whether you buy the cheaper device with advertising or without advertising for more money.
