this is all that’s new

Google will release three new options for Wear OS in the coming weeks. For example, several new tiles will be added. For example, Spotify gets three new Tiles: one for podcasts to notify you of new episodes, but also one that you can use to quickly access your most played playlists. There is also a DJ tile: not for scratching, but for quickly accessing your personalized playlists.

Spotify on your smartwatch

There is always a fairly large ‘More’ button at the bottom (more), so you go to the app in one tap. There is also a new app icon on your watch to just quickly go to the app (via 9to5Google). That was already possible, but now there is one that adapts a bit in terms of looks to the accent color you use on your smart watch. Yes, the Spotify logo is suddenly no longer green by default.

But it’s not just the popular Scandinavian music app that is getting a bit more extensive in terms of approach on Wear OS: Google Keep has also been overhauled. There will be a tile with which you can plant a list on the right or left of your watchface. Handy if you need a quick ‘post-it’ or your shopping list. There was something like this before Keep, but that was an option that allowed you to create a note in one tap. This new feature lets you add an existing list to your watch face.

WearOS

One more then? Google Wallet gets support for public transport cards. As is often the case, this will probably only apply to the United States (at least San Francisco and Washington DC), but the idea is interesting (if we don’t all just use our debit cards to check on the bus , the metro, the tram and the train.

The update is now being rolled out to Wear OS and as you can see, it is an interesting update especially for music and podcast lovers via Spotify.

Do you have a Wear OS device and what do you think of these novelties? Leave it now in the comments.
