This energy storage device is set to revolutionize the electricity market

The demand for renewable energy sources has continued to rise in recent years, including in private households. Now a Swedish company wants to revolutionize the electricity market with its Homevolt energy storage system.

In 2022 could Photovoltaic systems in Germany generate almost a quarter of gross electricity generation from renewable energy sources. With 24.3 percent, power generation from solar energy was only beaten by wind power, which took first place in the ranking with 39 percent.

Photovoltaic systems are also becoming increasingly attractive for private households. But what happens here at peak times and how can excess electricity be stored? Energy storage is used for this – at the Swedish company Polarium even with the help of artificial intelligence.

Smart energy storage for private households

The Swedish company Solarium has teamed up with the electricity company Tibber. According to their own statements the company wants to offer its customers “an intelligent and user-friendly consumer battery”.

The battery, named Homevolt, combines “the latest battery technology” with the “latest energy-saving AI software”. Because the energy storage device can not only store electricity generated by the sun, but also monitor electricity prices on the market thanks to Biber’s technology.

Polarium: Homevolt thinks ahead

But Tibber’s smart technology can not only track electricity prices on the market in real time. In the future, users should also be able to analyze their power consumption with the Homevolt energy storage system.

Because the battery understands the power consumption of the connected household and then compares this with the electricity prices. Polarium wants to increase the energy self-sufficiency of its users and “contribute to the stability and flexibility of the entire power grid”.

Polarium Homevolt: where is the smart energy storage available?

The consumer battery from Polarium is already available on the company’s home market. In addition to Sweden, households in Norway can already order the smart energy storage device.

Unfortunately, customers in Germany still have to be patient. The sale in Germany and the Netherlands is planned, but will only take place “at a later date”.
