WhatsApp account suspended? Soon you will be able to ask for help in the app

WhatsApp suspends certain accounts or gives them a permanent ban if there is reason to do so. However, that does not always go well and if your account has been incorrectly suspended, you will soon be able to respond more quickly.

WhatsApp suspension

Like most online platforms, WhatsApp has regulations with rules and conditions that users must respect if they want to use the app. Those who fail to do so risk being temporarily suspended, or even permanently banned. Now WhatsApp has automated systems to detect illegal activity, but those systems are not perfect. For example, there are several people who have seen their accounts banned in error and WhatsApp support has not yet been able to restore these accounts immediately. They must now send an email if they suspect that their account has been unjustly suspended and WhatsApp will start an investigation.

WhatsApp suspension revised

WhatsApp now wants to improve that trajectory and is now working on a tool in the chat app to request recovery of user accounts. WABetaInfo discovered that. This tool allows the user to ask WhatsApp to review potentially unjust bans. That tool will be in the app and will look like this on iOS:

Ask for account recovery in WhatsApp

Once a request is made, the user will receive an in-app notification when WhatsApp has reviewed their account. The reviews usually last about 24 hours and chats will not be deleted in the meantime.

WhatsApp account recovery

WhatsApp may have incorrectly flagged a WhatsApp account and they will recover the account after the review. If the automated systems find an illegal activity in a WhatsApp account that is still present after the review, no account recovery will take place. The ban is confirmed and the user will then have to register a new number to use WhatsApp.

The review tool was discovered in a future update of WhatsApp Beta for iOS, but will also be developed for the beta version of WhatsApp for Android. It is not known when the feature will be available in the beta or stable version of WhatsApp.
