This drone named Pixy will be your new best friend

The new drone ‘Pixy’ can capture your best moment from afar and share it on Snapchat.

When it comes to social media apps, Snapchat is quite a standout. Where most other social media apps have been bought by giants such as Facebook or Google, Snapchat is very stubborn and independent. The concept of Snapchat and how well it took off turned out to be an inspiration for Instagram, for example, think of the temporarily available stories and other apps that now have a function to make photos available to a limited extent instead of saving them.

Snapchat is very much about sharing what’s going on right now. A ‘snap’ is a photo that you take on the spot and can’t put up in front (you can throw a filter over it, but you can’t edit it from your gallery). So in itself a nice way to quickly share a beautiful moment in your life or to quickly take a selfie somewhere and send it to your friends. Even if you just do this with your smartphone camera, Snapchat has been working on other hardware for a while now to make snaps more fun and better. Now the company wants to do that with the drone Pixy.

Because of course it would be great to take the selfies you send to your Snapchat friends to the next level. Pixy can best be seen as a kind of flying selfie stick. Where with a selfie stick you always see the stick itself in the picture and often walk around with a big thing, Pixy can follow you and take a photo whenever you want. You don’t need a pilot’s license for it, because the thing flies after you itself! It is also a small device, so you can put it in your pocket, so to speak. Isn’t that at the expense of the hardware? A little bit, the camera on the Pixy is ‘only’ 12 MP. Pictures taken by the Pixy are sent to your smartphone and there you can share them directly with your friends.
