Sony presented its Xperia 1 IV in May, and gamers now have one more reason to opt for the mobile phone. At an event, the manufacturer presented the Xperia Stream, which offers not only cooling but also a wired streaming option.

Sony unveils Xperia Stream for gamers

A few months after the Xperia 1 IV smartphone, Sony presented a very special accessory that Mobile phone gaming functions noticeably expanded will. The Xperia Stream has HDMI, LAN, headphone and USB-C connections on the top and is connected to the phone as a case. There aren’t any buttons or joysticks involved with the Xperia Stream, so it’s controlled entirely by the Xperia 1 IV itself.

Games can be played via the HDMI port to a monitor or television with a maximum resolution of 1080p and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. A capture card can also be connected to record and stream the best gaming moments.

The in the housing of the Xperia Stream integrated fan can be adjusted via the “Game Enhancer” tool. Among other things, the speed of the fans can be controlled here.

Sony has the Xperia Stream so far exclusively for the Xperia 1 IV presented. It is not known whether there will also be other variants for other cell phones such as the Xperia 5 IV.

Xperia Stream: gaming accessories only in Japan?

At the launch, Sony kept a low profile when it came to availability. It is currently clear that the Xperia Stream from October 14, 2022 in Japan should be offered. In terms of price, Sony imagines a sum of around 160 euros (source: Sony Japan). The Xperia 1 IV mobile phone came on the market for 1,399 euros and is now available at a minimal price (see Amazon).
