This app is the personal protector of your privacy

Jumbo is an app that helps you reduce your digital footprint on social media. The app notifies you of data breaches in the services you use and you can impose clear restrictions on Google and Facebook.

In times of social media and the monopolies of big tech companies, it is more difficult than ever to protect your privacy online. “Privacy is a thing of the past”, you may hear, but that is of course just pessimism. It has certainly become a chore to think about the privacy aspect of all the different services you use, but that’s why the ‘Jumbo: Privacy + Security’ app does it for you.

This app advises users. For example, you can easily remove the traces of old tweets and Facebook messages without having to scroll through these apps yourself. In addition, you limit who can tag you on Facebook, you limit facial recognition and the way Facebook and Google collect information for advertisers. Jumbo helps you perform all these actions without having to search the settings of social media apps yourself.

Cambridge Analytics

You can also find which searches Google has saved and immediately impose restrictions. Has your e-mail address been involved in a data breach? The app will then notify you of this and you can immediately change your password at the relevant service.

Jumbo is completely free to use, but there is also a Pro plan that offers even more features. Such as the ability to block online trackers and app trackers. Behind this app is Pierre Valade, the developers of the popular Sunrise Calendar app that has since been sold to Microsoft. The events surrounding Facebook’s Cambridge-Analytica scandal convinced Valade to build this privacy assistant. The app was first released for iOS, but an Android version has now been released.

You can connect the Jumbo app to more and more services, and new features are still being added that help the app help users protect their privacy. Important to me that the app does not store any of your data on its servers. Searching for privacy issues is done completely on device.
