Huawei Band 7 review
A watch is no longer just a handy accessory to find out the time. Nowadays they also tell you everything about your stress level, heart rate and they keep track of your activity. The Huawei Band 7 is also such a watch or rather, band because with its elongated appearance it does not have the everyday shapes of a watch.
In the small box, in addition to the band, we also find some booklets and a charging cable with which we can charge the Band 7 from Huawei. The charging cable is magnetic and only snaps onto the back of the Band 7 one way.
Compared to its predecessor, Huawei has reduced some of the weight and the band has also been made slightly thinner. The smartband is made of plastic, which is not very strange considering the price range. Nevertheless, the whole feels solid. There are four different colors available, so you can choose from black, red, pink and dark green.
In use
The Huawei Band 7 runs on its own HarmonyOS, so don’t expect apps or other clever tricks that you might be able to run with an Android Wearable. The smartwatch can handle both Android and iOS. The band fits comfortably around the wrist and because of its weight you hardly feel that you are wearing a watch. Because the strap is not made of leather but of rubber, it is better suited for sporting activities.
By swiping on the small display, you navigate through different screens in the watch and you can see a heart rate graph, stress graph and effort progress, among other things. By using the button on the side you dive into the menu and find more “apps” such as your SpO2 data, workouts and sleep data. For example, the body temperature is missing, as can be found in its bigger brother, the Huawei Watch GT3.
Do you need breathing exercises? You can also find those on the tape in the menu. There are also many different watch faces available via the app and you can also use your own photo as a background on the smartband.
health app
Thanks to the Huawei Band 7, the Huawei Health app gives you insight into, among other things, your heart rate, stress level and SpO2 data. You will also find the history of training sessions there. A disadvantage is that the band does not have a GPS sensor, so for sports activities you have to carry a smartphone with you.
However, Huawei recently added a link with Strava via its own Health app. So if you want to save sports activities outside of Huawei’s own platform, that’s also possible.
Battery life
The Band 7’s small size hasn’t come at the expense of battery life, which is fine with about two weeks of endurance. The supplied USB cable recharges the band in an hour.
Rating
With the Band 7, Huawei has released a small upgrade compared to the Band 6. If you are looking for a budget-friendly smart band, the Huawei Band 7 is good on paper, provided you can do without GPS tracking for your sporting adventures. In terms of battery life, the tire scores well and provides insight into numerous health parameters.
Do you want to purchase this smartband? You can buy the Huawei Band 7 for about 50 euros at Huawei, Bol.com, MediaMarkt, Belsimpel and Amazon.
