Most traded stocks in March 2023: The details

There were some changes in the most traded stocks in March 2023 compared to February. After months in second place, Amazon shares, for example, slipped significantly for the first time and only occupied sixth place. In addition, German stocks dominate more than before.

In focus: the Vonovia share

The Smartbroker list of the most traded stocks in March 2023 is the same as the list from February with a few exceptions. The individual actors are almost the same. Nevertheless, there are two prominent newcomers and significantly more rotation than in the previous months.

The Vonovia share, for example, managed to jump to third place out of nowhere. With this, the company even leaves online giants Amazon behind. The reason: Numerous real estate stocks have been in a nosedive for months.

But Vonovia’s securities lost almost 25 percent in the past 30 days alone (as of April 3, 2023). This should have boosted the buying interest of numerous investors significantly.

Most traded securities: German shares dominate

In addition to Nvidia, the Commerzbank share stands out, not only making it into Smartbroker’s top ten, but even into the top five. Commerzbank securities have recently lost a significant amount of value. For the past week (as of April 3, 2023), the bottom line is an increase of around four percent.

Among other things, this is likely to be related to the Credit Suisse takeover by UBS, as this opens up new opportunities for some German banks. In addition to Commerzbank and Vonovia, five other German stocks rank in Smartbroker’s top ten: Deutsche Bank, Volkswagen, BASF, Rheinmetall and Daimler. There are also three US stocks, led by Tesla, Amazon and Nvidia.
