These Pixel 7 features are coming to older models

Google presented the new Pixel 7 series last week. The manufacturer will bring several features of the ‘7’ to previous models in the Pixel series. Which functions are those?

New features to old Pixel

Previously released Pixel models will receive features previously announced only for the Pixel 7 models in the future. This news has been confirmed by Google and the functionality will be rolled out via the well-known Pixel Feature Drop updates, which are usually combined with security updates.

First up is the improved live view in the Pixel Launcher. This shows certain (live) information, for example the weather. For example, you will see the message that rain is expected in an hour. You will see this directly on the screen, so that you are not surprised. Furthermore, the Pixels with a Tensor chip get Clear Calling, whereby the background noise is muted to such an extent that this benefits the call quality. An incoming call can also be muted by shouting ‘silence’. This voice command is added to the list of ‘stop’ and ‘snooze’ as commands for the alarm clock.

Guided Frame is also a feature that will come to devices with a Tensor chip. It is an accessibility feature that helps people with low vision to take a selfie. A so-called voice-over will provide instructions for this, along with a countdown timer. Improvements previously announced for Real Tone, which can capture skin tones more realistically, are also coming to previously released Pixel models. Finally, the previous generation of Pixels will receive a feature that offers spatial audio via the Pixel Buds Pro.

It is expected that Google will release the new functionalities in early December. Google may have more improvements in the pipeline; such as the improved battery stats.
