With your children in the tent or a caravan on a packed campsite, you sometimes come across situations that you never expected.

“We stood with our caravan near the toilet block and our daughters, then eight and nine, did the dishes every morning. They were proud every time they came back with a shiny breakfast dish. Only on one of the last days did they point out where they always did that.

What turned out? We made her brush her teeth. But explain that to disturbed bystanders as you run after a hysterical toddler.”
