These iPhone apps already have live activities in iOS 16.1

iOS 16.1 now includes Live Activities and several apps already use this new feature. But what exactly are these ‘live activities’ and what are the best apps?

iPhone apps with live activities

One of the new features in iOS 16.1 is live activities. It allows apps to show a special kind of notifications on the lock screen and the new Dynamic Island of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The function is very useful with some apps. For example, you can immediately see live football results on the lockscreen (or in the Dynamic Island), while the match is still in progress.

An app must have built-in support for the feature. Developers are therefore well on their way to doing this with their apps. We have a list of the best apps that already support live activities. Keep in mind that with some apps you have to take out a paid subscription or have the paid version.

1. FotMob – Football Results

In the FotMob app you can see the live football results. In the app you can indicate exactly for which teams or which matches you want to see these scores.

2. Sticky Timers and Countdowns

With this app you can show several timers (simultaneously) on the lockscreen. Handy if, for example, you are cooking an egg and in the meantime also need to keep track of the cooking time of the rice.

3. Posture Pal – Work Posture

Do you often slump? Do you want to change this? All you need is your iPhone, your AirPods and the Posture Pal app. Please note: at the moment the app does not yet work with the AirPods Pro 2.

4. Pestle: Recipe Organizer

With Pestle you can save and save recipes that you find on the internet. But with the built-in live activities, you can view the steps in a recipe or show different timers.

5. Carrot Weather

With Carrot Weather, checking the weather forecast is even fun when the weather is bad. You can set how ‘well-mouthed’ the app is. Carrot weather shows you with live activities on the lock screen of your iPhone, among other things, if a storm is approaching.

6. Just Press Record

With this app you can easily record sounds. The clips are also synced between all your iCloud devices. And the app can now also be used on the Lockscreen.
