iOS 15.2 beta 2

The new iOS 15.2 is an interesting interim update, because the software adds quite a few functions. After the first beta, we already knew that the iPhone will get four new functions with iOS 15.2. Now more innovations are known.

1. Digital Legacy

At WWDC in June, Apple introduced the Digital Legacy feature, where you can designate people as “Legacy” contacts. They will have access to your account and personal information after your death.

You’ll find the feature in iOS 15.2 soon by opening the Settings app and tapping your name at the top. Then choose ‘Password and security>Legacy Contact’. Here you choose someone who will have access to your account information, such as your photos, messages, notes and more after your death.

2. Communication security

In the second beta of iOS 15.2, Apple is adding a Communication Safety feature for children. With the feature, the Messages app will alert children when they receive or send images with nudity. When receiving such an image, the photo is displayed with machine learning made blurry. The feature is off by default, so it must be enabled by parents first.

3. Hide my email address

In iOS 15 and macOS Monterey, Apple introduced the Hide My Email feature, which generates random email addresses when signing in to apps and websites.

In iOS 15.2, this feature is expanded as it comes to the Mail app. Users can tap the ‘From’ field and choose the ‘Hide my email’ option. This way you can create a random e-mail address, where e-mails are automatically forwarded to your personal inbox.

4. Scan function in Find My App

The Find My app gets a new option: ‘Items that can follow me’. Tapping this option will search for nearby items that can be used to track a location. These are trackers that are activated in the Find My app, such as Apple’s AirTag. If an item is detected, you will be instructed to turn off the device.

5. TV App

In iPadOS 15.2, Apple’s TV app has been thoroughly overhauled. There is a sidebar that replaces the tab bar at the bottom of the screen, making navigating between the different parts easier. What iPadOS 15.2 and iOS 15.2 both get is a dedicated Store tab. Previously, Apple TV+ and iTunes Store movies and series were mixed up, which could be very confusing. Soon they will be separated from each other.

Install iOS 15.2

iOS 15.2 is expected to be installed sometime in late November. However, you can already get started with the innovations in iOS 15.1. You can read what Apple changed in the interim update here:
