These are the must-haves for your LEGO trousseau

My children’s wish list is fairly monotonous and can be summed up in four letters: LEGO. After a quarantine of no less than three weeks, the LEGO mania in our house has only increased. Admittedly, we as parents are happy to help with that. Because the quarantine was the perfect time to assemble all the LEGO structures and find out which bricks are missing. You can order these individually on the LEGO site. Useful! This is how we make everything complete again. And in the meantime Elin (9) and Mats (6) learn how to follow an instruction booklet, see how constructions work and develop their imagination with loose LEGO bricks. These items and packages are included in our LEGO trousseau:

The rollercoaster

Article continues after the ad

“During the first lockdown, we were looking for a project that the four of us could work on. It presented itself in the form of: the roller coaster! Take turns building four pages and moving them on again. That’s how we have this thing built up as a family. Really great to do together and you can play endlessly with the end result. We bought a motor, so that the carts continue to drive by themselves.”

– Includes 11 minifigures
– Set contains more than 4120 elements
– 53 cm high, 88 cm wide and 41 cm deep.

Destiny’s Bounty

LEGO pirate boat

“Mats loves all things Ninjago. When he first started talking about Destiny’s bounty, I had no idea. It’s been in and out four times now. He can do this all by himself – which of course I I think it’s very clever. Admittedly: the LEGO sets are quite an investment, but here at home they are really played with intensively.”

“In addition to building with an instruction booklet, Elin and Mats also like to make fantastic constructions. It is therefore useful to have a lot of loose stones at home to make towers, animals and other worlds. I keep these separate from the building kits. I want to keep it complete. With LEGO blocks you can give fun assignments to your toddler and preschooler, such as counting blocks, naming colors and replicating animals.”

“In order to organize all the colored bricks in a clear manner, we have purchased LEGO storage bins. The ones with drawers are especially useful. We have different colors that you can conveniently stack on top of each other.”

Handy, I must have this!

Technical LEGO

“The LEGO Friends packs are no longer so challenging for Elin. That’s why she now regularly makes technical LEGO. I think it’s a shame that vehicles and masculine devices are mainly available in this series, but Elin doesn’t mind and feel free to build a race car.”

This makes my child happy

On the wish list

  • “Of course there is always something to be desired. We are eager to go to Legoland Discovery Center in The Hague with a Ninjago training zone, endless blocks to build with, attractions and workshops.
  • And our next set? We’re not quite done yet, but my hands are itching when I see this beautiful Harry Potter castle.”
