Every year Google shares an overview of the most searched searches of the past year. The 2021 searches are bundled into Year in Search 2021. What did we search for the most in 2021? Not only the corona virus was central, there were many more topics that were searched.
Year in Search 2021
We have already stated it before; December is the month of lists. We also see this in the daily news. Spotify Wrapped, for example, appeared earlier, and now it’s Google’s turn with a new list. We see Year in Search 2021, where Google shares an overview of what was most trending in 2021. This concerns searches in the past year, in the Netherlands but also worldwide.
In the Netherlands we searched the most for: Peter R. de Vries. The list of most searched general topics can be found below.

In the field of the coronavirus, we also searched for Coronatest, Corona figures and CoronaCheck app. Athletes were also wanted; with Christian Eriksen at number one, followed by Bibian Mentel and Rico Verhoeven. There was also a lot of search for the iPhone 13, the WhatsApp malfunction, Microsoft Teams and Zoom. We also see Squid Game, Bridgetton and Deal or No Deal. We also looked in the Netherlands for actors Alec Baldwin, Pete Davidson and actress Helen McCrory. Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris were the most wanted Formula 1 drivers. Musicians we were looking for were Bilal Wahib, Lil’ Kleine and DMX. The most sought-after recipe was red cabbage, followed by pointed cabbage and French toast. The most Googled politicians are Sigrid Kaag, Vera Bergkamp and Joe Biden. Google reports that the most searched football clubs are as follows; Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV. Followed by AZ and FC Twente.

We also use Google to ask questions. When asked How, were the most frequently asked questions, What time does the Netherlands play?, How old is Stefan de Vries?, How do I get the yellow book?, What time is the press conference? and How is Peter R. de Vries? The most frequently asked questions starting with ‘What is’ are listed below;
