iOS 16.4 beta for developers
Apple is not sitting still and the first beta of iOS 16.4 for the iPhone has now appeared. This version is for developers so they can get started with the new features right away. The beta of iOS 16.4 is of course packed with new features. We show you the most important functions.
1. Safari gets push notifications
You may think “what am I supposed to do with that”, but it is quite a handy function. This allows a website to show a notification on your iPhone from now on. Handy if you keep an eye on the Apple website for the next iPhone announcement, for example…
2. New Emojis
Several new emojis will be added in iOS 16.4. These emojis include a shaking head, pink heart, a donkey, a goose and many more.
3. HomeKit is getting an update
iOS 16.4 brings back the Homekit update that was removed in iOS 16.2 due to issues. The update is mainly intended to improve communication between the various HomeKit devices.
4. Podcast app just got a whole lot better
The Podcast app has also received several new functions in iOS 16.4 beta. For example, there is now a ‘Channels’ option in the Library. It is also now easier to resume a podcast in CarPlay.
More new features in iOS 16.4 beta
The Apple Music app has also been updated. For example, your profile can now be opened from more tabs. Furthermore, Messages has received previews for links to Mastodon. The Shortcuts app has new features and there’s a new focus option for the always-on screen.
When will iOS 16.4 be released?
According to Apple, iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4 and macOS Ventura 13.3 will be released in the spring. Spring begins in 2023 starting on March 20 and ending on June 21.
