These are the best games of 2021 according to the Game Awards

The Game Awards are back and the Oscars for games made many surprising choices for the best games of 2021.

Every gamer probably knows the E3, but for years the importance of this game fair has been decreasing in favor of, for example, The Game Awards. This game show from industry veteran Geoff Keighley hosts the Oscars of gaming annually. And during this event, the best games in the most diverse categories are chosen. These are the best games of 2021 according to the Game Awards!

The absolute Game Awards winners

Starting with the absolute winners. There are two flavors in this category. The regular Game of the Year is It Takes Two, a co-op platformer with a distinctive style. This game was chosen by an expert jury of more than 100 journalists, content creators and other veterans.

The public also has a small say during the regular vote, but the jury decides. It’s different in the Player’s Voice category; Gamers around the world have decided that Halo: Infinite is the winner of 2021.

The Multiple Triumphs

In addition to game of the year, It Takes Two wins two other awards, namely best family game and best multiplayer. This makes It Takes Two by far the most awarded video game of 2021. Forza Horizon 5 also manages to win so many awards, but does so in much less important categories.

In second place is Deathloop, the innovative game from Bethesda. The game is praised for its creativity. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is the big indie winner, Final Fantasy XIV Online is an online masterpiece and the Resident Evil franchise takes the prize in a few fringe categories. Including the prize for the actress who plays the much-meeded character Lady Dimitrescu.
