These are the 4 most expensive NFTs to date

NFTs, or ‘non-fungible tokens’, are currently available in different colours, scents, types and sizes. For example, you can buy NFTs stating that you are the owner of a certain (digital) work of art. The market for this is growing and sometimes sky-high amounts are spent on this type of NFT. In this article we pick out the four most expensive NFTs of the moment and look at the astronomical amounts that have been spent on them.

crypto week

This week Androidworld is all about cryptocurrency. We therefore declare this week ‘Cryptoweek’ in which we would like to make you world-wise in this digital world. We discuss useful apps, provide you with tip and explanation articles and also look at the ‘dangers’ that can be around the corner. We have already written several articles about crypotcurrency, a selection of which can be found below, and here you will find the complete overview of theme week articles. So, in this article, we’re going to dig a little deeper and look at the four most expensive NFTs ever.

4. CryptoPunk #7804: 6.3 million euros

Three CryptoPunks are in the top four most expensive NFTs to date. This is a collection of unique pixel figures. Each CryptoPunk is one of a kind and has its own hairstyle, appearance, hat and/or accessory. The CryptoPunks came on the market in 2017 as one of the first NFTs ever and they are designed by Larva Labs. Nowadays they are selling like hot cakes over the digital counter. You are currently paying for such a nice CryptoPunk minimal about 250,000 euros.

And I’m talking about at least 250,000 euros. One of the most expensive is CryptoPunk number 7804. For this CryptoPunk with pipe and cool sunglasses, about 6.3 million has been paid. Then why so much for this CryptoPunk? Probably because CryptoPunk #7804 is the only one with such a cap and pipe, which makes it unique and therefore more valuable for the buyers.

3. CryptoPunk #7523: 9.9 million euros

A modern CryptoPunk with a beautiful red hat, beautifully gray designed mouth cap and a gold earring. Unfortunately, not only the earring is made of (digital) gold, for this even more unique CryptoPunk you had to cough up no less than 9.9 million euros. This CryptoPunk was sold on June 10 at a Sotheby’s auction house and bought by Shalom Meckenzie, an entrepreneur from Israel. The NFT has since been sent to its digital wallet.

1. Everydays: The First 5000 Days – more than 58 million euros

Of course there is always ‘boss over boss’ and in this case that is Mike Winkelmann, a digital artist and graphic designer from the United States. Someone paid no less than 58.2 million euros for the NFT for his work ‘Everydays: The First 5000 Days’, a digital artwork consisting of 5000 images of images he has made over the past thirteen years. This work is partly due to the fact that it was sold by auction house Christies. The largest and perhaps most famous auction house in the world.

What do the buyers actually get?

Every buyer of such a digital file will receive the NFT. In other words, the digital statement that a specific digital file belongs to him or her. Please note: they are the sole owners, the buyers of an NFT do not receive more rights. They can say that the digital file is theirs and they can also have this recorded in a so-called blockchain so that everyone can see that the file is actually theirs.

In this article you can read more about NFTs and the (possible) dangers they entail. And do you want to create, buy and/or sell NFTs yourself? In this article, we’ll discuss the best NFT apps and give you some tips.
