Telegram Beta has received a new update. You can now automatically delete chat history every month, share your screen in video calls and adjust the playback speed of videos. We discuss all the new features.

1. Videos Playback Speed

Telegram version 7.9.0 beta is out for users of the separate Telegram Beta app. When you watch videos in conversations, you can now adjust the playback speed, and you can choose between: Very slow, (0.2x), Slow (0.5x), Normal (1x), Fast (1.5x) and Very fast ( 2x). To change the speed, tap the menu with the three dots at the top of a video, then choose speed.

2. Delete Chat History Monthly

Telegram now lets you automatically clear the history of conversations every month. The app had been able to automatically remove messages from conversations for some time, but that was only for a period of a day or a week. In a conversation, press the three-dot menu at the top and choose Clear history. The new option can then be seen in Auto delete in this chat.

3. Share screen in (video) calls

Well, the beta version of Telegram is of course primarily intended to detect errors in new functions, and to optimize the functioning of features before they end up in the stable app. The option to share your screen in video and audio calls does not work well yet. There is not yet a simple button to share your screen in a conversation.

In an audio call you have to activate the camera first and then the option will appear phone screen to share your screen. For video calls, you must first turn the camera off, then turn it back on with the same button to display the option. But even when you tap ‘Phone screen’ with this cumbersome way, it doesn’t work even more often than it does. We expect Telegram to address these errors.

4. Floating Videos

Telegram has long allowed you to send video messages to each other. To do this, tap the microphone of audio recordings at the bottom right to switch to videos. The icon changes to a camera, and you then start filming if you long-press that icon. If you let go, the recording will stop and the app will send the video message.

Telegram can now create floating videos from your video messages. Such videos will appear around in a small circle in your chat conversations. Tapping on that circle enlarges the image, but if you start scrolling now you will continue to see the video. It will float on screen and you can drag it on the screen.
