These 3 Google Maps features are coming to your iPhone soon
Also this summer, the already very extensive Google Maps will introduce new functions. It involves location sharing options, improvements to bike routes and a way to explore places of interest.

New features Google Maps
Google Maps was once an app to simply get you from A to B. Now it is a very versatile app; you see where to go for a nice diner, share your location with your friends, plan your journey with public transport and explore the neighborhood with Streetview.
Those possibilities will expand in the future. You can expect these features soon:
1. Photorealistic Aerial Photos
Are you on vacation, and not sure whether an attraction like the Empire State Building is worth a visit? Soon you will not be doing your preliminary exploration in Streetview, but in the photo-realistic aerial photos of Google Maps. They are there from nearly 100 popular landmarks, all over the world. These include the cities of Barcelona, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo.
According to Google, it is a first step towards the Immersive View. Instead of photos being stitched together as in Streetview, the buildings are shown in a three-dimensional view. Google does this by combining the billions of images from Street View, satellites and aerial images.
2. More information for your cycling route
Mapping a bike route has been possible in Google Maps for 12 years – something we are still waiting for in Apple Maps. The navigation app will soon show more details. Not only do you see how to cycle, but you also know per route whether you are dealing with steep slopes and heavy car traffic. Also see which route has the most bike paths.
3. Location sharing notifications
You can later set that you will receive a notification when someone is at a certain location. Suppose you have met friends at a concert and they share the location with you. Instead of constantly checking Google Maps, you can set it up to notify you when they arrive at the concert.
Of course, you can only set those notifications to people who have chosen to share their location with you. You can also set up to receive a notification when someone leaves a specific location.
