Apple has lost the App Store update button … Affected users can no longer easily update apps individually due to the bug. There is a workaround.

Apple users currently trying to update an app may be disappointed. A bug in the App Store makes it impossible for some to update apps due to the lack of an update button. Where did the update button go? Fortunately, there is a relatively simple solution.

App Store update button has been lost

Users who have recently entered the App Store may lose the essential update button. MacRumors scoffs that an unknown number of users are missing the button. As a result, owners of an iPhone, for example, can no longer manually update their apps.

The problem occurs sporadically and seemingly randomly when users view their profile. There they normally see a list of apps, with next to it a button to update apps of their choice.

As a temporary solution, you can still update all your apps at the same time via the App Store; the ‘update all’ button is still present. A bit inconvenient for users who want to decide for themselves which app gets a new version and which not.

Another solution is to go to the individual app pages of the respective apps. There you can just press ‘update’ if you have installed the app. Clumsy again, this time when you have to update dozens of apps.

Similar bugs have been common. Presumably Apple can fix the problem quickly. But for now, Apple has not yet confirmed that the update button is missing at all. So we don’t know yet what causes the bug.
