The investment company Janus Henderson investigates exactly this question at regular intervals. In the “Janus Henderson Global Dividend Index“, the developments and trends in dividend payments around the world are analyzed.

The experts also address the question of who is the largest dividend payer in the world. The most recent report is from March 2023 and deals with the previous year. In 2022, a total of 1.56 trillion (!) US dollars was paid out in dividends. This corresponds to an increase of 8.4 percent compared to the previous year.

In today’s ranking, we want to introduce you to the ten largest dividend payers in the world, measured by the sum of the distributions. In total, these ten companies alone paid out $155.1 billion to shareholders.

With a payout of $10.7 billion in 2022, the Australian-British mining group Rio Tinto is in tenth place. The company is focused on the mining and production of iron ore, aluminum and copper.
