The Witcher & Zelda: 15 games you won’t play in 1,000 years
We’ve all done it before: grabbed a bargain at a sale and never played the game we bought since. You probably felt the same about these 15 games.
There are a lot of good games out there. And they all have one thing in common: they want to be played! If only we had the time … In this series of pictures you can see which video games have been around for years on your pile of shame to laze around. Also the GIGA GAMES and spieletipps editors confess their shame.
The Witcher 3: Mentioned by most of you and also a hot topic for us in the editorial office – editor-in-chief Claudia even pushes the complete trilogy in front of him! The DLCs Blood and Wine and Heart of Stone are also slowly gathering dust on many shelves. But it’s also difficult to take enough time for such an extensive game… Our reader Steven Fehlau writes:
“It took me a year to make the main game because I wanted to discover everything and read every book… the same with the add-ons. However, there is simply not enough time and just throwing it on for an hour is simply not worth it”
DLCs can also be postponed. Like our reader, for example Krone SK. His crime scene is Assassin’s Creed Odyssey:

Of course, colleague Marina made a horror game. There’s actually one shocker she hasn’t tried yet: Silent Hill 2. She denies any blame for that:

Yee Haw! The open world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is a real time waster. No wonder so many of you have been putting off the masterpiece for far too long. reader Alex S got lost in the open game world at some point:
“RDR2 was mega hyped and played it up to 68% – then just didn’t feel like it anymore because it gets dead boring and drags on like chewing gum. Never finished and will never touch it again, although technically it was very impressive.”
Like some of you, colleague also pushes Olaf Hideo Kojima’s Parcel Man Simulator. But Death Stranding is also a very nice board.
Many of you will want to play The Last of Us again at some point. After all, it’s a great game. Also our SEO expert Evelina pleads guilty – despite having tried it before:
“I expected something completely different when it came out and threw it in the corner after five hours. I really want to give it another chance… Absolutely! … Sometime …”
Colleague Gregory just doesn’t dare to try Half-Life 2. Literally:
“I was still too scary when it came out. Haven’t touched it since then. Would probably still be too scary for me.”
It will be fine! He still has a bit of time before the third part comes out.
Colleague Daniel been putting off Divinity Original Sin 2 for far too long. But RPGs are also time consuming…
Horizon Zero Dawn is on our reader’s list Isaac K:
“Horizon Zero Dawn. It’s a shame, it’s great gameplay, but I have more problems with open world in general (The Witcher 3, Skyrim and Co.).”
editor Alex must have imagined things differently when buying NieR Automata – and put himself under pressure:
“Had it since release, but since it was so highly acclaimed back then (and certainly deservedly so), I’ve always felt like I couldn’t play it ‘on the side’ because then I can’t appreciate it and wait instead always at the right time …”
Our Star Wars fan Martin heart bleeds at the thought of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order:
“Even had to uninstall it now because I’m out of disk space. So that won’t happen anytime soon.”
editor John grabbed a Steam sale ages ago and has been the proud owner of the full Bioshock line for years now. So far, however, there has not been enough time for a little more than half of the first part.
Open world again – this time it’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Colleague ove blames his long to-do list for this:
“I started it, but never really got that far. I still have to catch up. Otherwise GTA 5, Death Stranding, Jedi Fallen Order and Persona 5.”
Colleague’s list Michael is long. Very long. Almost too long. Currently his Pile of Shame consists of top games like Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher 3, Persona 5, Shenmue and Bloodborne. However, he is not alone in this, as a comment from saya s proves:
“Nier, The Witcher 3, Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey, Horizon Zero Dawn. I kind of just started all of them but never really finished them. But I actually played Horizon the farthest of all those mentioned.”
