On the occasion of its eighth birthday, the Telegram chat application receives an update to version 8.0, which brings with it several interesting news. According to the Android Police portal, the stickers, emoji and the way to switch between individual conversations have been improved. The application has also achieved its ambitious goal of removing the limit on the number of followers of video calls.

Unlimited users can now watch video calls

Not so long ago, the Telegram platform did not support group video calls at all. However, since the application added them, it pushes the boundaries of their functionality much further than the competition. Up to a thousand followers can join video calls since the last major update, but it doesn’t end there. The Telegram team already announced at that time that it planned to remove the limit of the number of followers completely, and it succeeded in this update.

The update focused on improving stickers and emoji

The new version of the application gives more space for stickers. When searching for them, you will have a section with trends, where you will find the best packages of new stickers. It will also be easier to select them when chatting, you will have the option to expand the design bar by dragging.

If you prefer emoji, Telegram has prepared another 21 animated smileys for you.

When it comes to channels, the new version provides an easier way to switch between them. You won’t have to go back to the chat list every time, just go to the end of the current one and drag up from the bottom of the screen. This gesture will automatically throw you to the next channel with new messages.

The latest news for sending text messages concerns forwarding. From now on, you will be able to choose how the forwarded message is displayed to the recipient. You get the option to hide or show the sender’s name and description. You will also have the option to preview the forwarded message or change the recipient in case you made a mistake.

Telegram may have quietly terminated application support for Wear OS

The update will certainly please more users, but owners of smart watches with the Wear OS system probably will not. The 9to5Google portal noticed that after the arrival of the new version, the possibility to download the service application to the watch disappeared from the Google Play store for Wear OS. The telegram has not yet commented on the situation, so it is not clear at the moment whether it was just a mistake or the end of support for this platform.
