The Settlers – -apkrig

In 2018, The Settlers’ announcements finally have their painful development coming to an end and will be released on March 17. Instead of a bold new direction, the series will be a reboot, when the series will want to return to the best it has offered in the past.

According to the creators, The Settlers take the main inspiration from the third and fourth part, which is music for my ears. Two may be remembered most in general, but I personally spent by far the most hours at four, and despite her pastel kitsch, I fell in love with her.

The new part of the long-running series will have both a story campaign and PvP and cooperative skirmishes, which will also play against AI. In The Setters you will be able to play for three different factions: Elari, Maru and Jorn. The centerpiece of the story campaign will be Elari, refugees trying to get as far away from the military coup as possible.

Each faction is associated with a different environment, as well as, of course, various specific advantages, disadvantages, capabilities, unique architectures and units. According to the creators, the new part should give you, at least in the field of building the economy and controlling the army, similar feelings as the three and four, while everything else should seem like a modern strategy.

“It’s not about change, it’s about evolution. Settlers III and IV, for example, had a lot of specialists who did only one thing. But you needed twenty of them. So you had 20 geologists, 20 pioneers, 20 thieves. Now we have merged all this into a new role as Engineer. As a result, it should lead to players paying more attention to all its possibilities, ”says Christian Hagedorn, Creative Development Manager, on the official website.

The Engineer is thus a new universal civilian unit, a kind of backbone of your settlement, and unlike ordinary workers, you can task it at any time and directly control it.

The Settlers may not sound like a major revolution or a bold new direction for the whole series, but rather a pleasant little evolution with a hint of nostalgia. Which is maybe exactly what the series needs after so many years (the last new episode was released in 2010).

And at least on the example of Anno 1800, we know that Ubisoft’s building strategies can succeed and, thanks to long-term support, thrive very well. How it will be with The Settlers will be seen on March 17, when they will be released on a PC and will also be part of the Ubisoft + service. The eager can still sign up for the closed beta on the game’s official website, which will run from January 20 to 24.
