The Samsung Tizen app store is definitely ending
The Samsung Tizen app store has officially ended. It has not been accessible to new or existing users since the beginning of 2022, informs the TizenHelp portal.
The Tizen Store began to decline in 2017
Tizen Store in its time allowed users of smartphones with the Tizen operating system to install applications from other developers. Specifically, these were the Samsung Z1, Z2, Z3 and Z4. The last of them, the Z4 model, was introduced in 2017. In the following years, Samsung focused only on developing smartphones with Android and abandoned the use of its own operating system, last year even from the version of Tizen for smart watches. You can still find it on the company’s smart TVs, but it’s questionable for how long.
Naturally, the application developers gradually left the platform, and in 2018 the popular ACL application also left the store. Thanks to it, users could download popular applications such as Facebook or WhatsApp from the Tizen Store, which could no longer be officially downloaded from the store.
In June 2020, Samsung terminated new user registrations and the store only worked for existing ones who could only install previously downloaded applications from there. The platform is now unavailable to all users. If you open an app or store website, you’ll only see an error message on the screen.
