The Samsung Galaxy A71 in the 5G version receives a July security patch

Two years old middle class smartphone Samsung Galaxy A71 5G received a new update that includes a July security patch. The information was provided by the portal SamMobile.

The update only applies to the 4G version so far

The Samsung Galaxy A71 was introduced in December 2019. In the meantime, however, it has been replaced on the market by the new generation Samsung Galaxy A72. Some time ago, the Galaxy A71 was also upgraded to Android 11. The new software update applies to its 5G version, and the 5G version will probably not be available until later. Update number is A716BXXU5CUG7 and was launched in Taiwan.

The main improvement it brings, of course, is the July security patch. It should fix about 20 critical bugs in Android 11 security. It may also include general bug fixes, performance improvements, and device stability improvements. The patch comes with a slight delay, as several Samsung smartphones have already received the current August security.

The system should notify you automatically when an update is available, but you can also verify it manually. Just go to the section Settings -> Software Update -> Download and Install. Before installation, make sure that your smartphone battery is at least 70% charged.

How is the competition?

The Chinese company Xiaomi started last month with the distribution of the MIUI 12.5 superstructure for the flagship model Xiaomi Mi 11. Another Chinese company Huawei brought a security patch for the Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro + and Huawei Mate 40 Porsche Design smartphones. Motorola recently began distributing Android 11 for models Motorola moto g 5G plus a Motorola razr 5G.

Realme 7 Pro

There was also a young Realme brand, which updated the Realme 6 Pro and 7 Pro smartphones to the latest version of the system. Owners are already enjoying Android 11 Nokia 4.2. And the Honor 9x and 9X Pro smartphones received a security update a few weeks ago. Last week, a cheap Nokia 1.3 smartphone was also updated on Android 11.
