The return of Fortnite to iOS in 2023 teased by the boss of Epic Games
Fortnite could well be back on iOS in 2023, this is in any case what Tim Sweeney, the boss of Epic Games teases on Twitter. “Next year on iOS! »he tweeted before the transition to 2023.

The boss of Epic Games is certainly referring to iOS 17 which would allow users (Europeans at least) to install applications on iPhone and iPad without going through the App Store. Thus, it would be possible to install Fortnite on iOS knowing that the game is no longer available on the App Store.
Fortnite was removed from the App Store in August 2020 after Epic Games included a direct payment option in the game that bypassed Apple’s in-app purchase system, violating App Store rules. Apple blamed Epic Games directly for violating its rules.
The withdrawal of Fortnite from the App Store prompted Epic Games to file a lawsuit against the iPhone maker. Three years later, Epic Games and Apple are now appealing a September 2021 court ruling that forced Apple to allow developers to add links in their apps to external websites, paving the way for other payment options that do not require developers to use the in-app purchase system. As a reminder, Apple takes 15% or 30% commission with its in-app purchase system.
