Try iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 – registration for the beta program required
To install the new OS versions you have to register with Apple’s beta program. Then you need your compatible iPhone or iPad for the Register beta and install a profile. It is therefore recommended to register with the respective iPhone or iPad. Then restart the device and look for software updates under the menu item “General”. Now you should be offered the beta.
Since this is a pre-release version, problems cannot be completely ruled out. We therefore advise you to make a backup of your iPhone or iPad with a current, stable iOS or iPadOS version before installing the beta. That would currently be iOS or iPadOS 14.6.
If you use your iPhones or iPads for work, it would be advisable to wait for the final version to be released. In addition to software errors, incompatibilities with apps can also occur in rare cases.
iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 with many innovations
The two new OS updates bring many new functions, such as social features for Facetime and messages, but also optimizations for notifications and a focus function. iPadOS gets widgets for the home screen and new multitasking functions. The Safari browser is also receiving a major update. Apple Maps and Wallet have also been equipped with new functions. With the new wallet functions, you can use your iPhone as a digital key for your front door, a hotel room or the office.
In addition to the beta for iOS and iPadOS, Apple has also released pre-release versions for tvOS 15 and watchOS 8. A beta for macOS 12 Monterey is still pending – but according to Apple it should be available “soon”. The final OS versions are expected in autumn.
