The Nintendo Switch surpasses two legendary consoles

The Nintendo Switch is now the most successful home console from the Japanese manufacturer Nintendo, surpassing not only the in-house Wii, but also a legendary console from competitor Sony.

The king is dead, long live the king

Nintendo’s successful console has meanwhile sold more than 100 million units. To be precise, it was even 103.5 million units and so the switch has one in-house record Broken. So far it was the Nintendo Wii the most successful console of Big N. The home console was an incredible success, selling a whopping 101.6 million units in its lifetime (Source: Nintendo).

Great contrasts, larger screen – but can the new OLED switch do even more? And is it even worth buying for? We tell you in the video:

Nintendo Switch: Is there more?

Of such dizzying numbers most consoles can only dream of. Especially in such a short time. For comparison: The PlayStation 4 is currently sold at 116.8 million units. However, the PS4 is also three years ahead and has now far passed its zenith. So it should only be a matter of time before the switch catches up with this console too.

Speaking of PlayStation. A whole particularly legendary PlayStation the Switch has now left behind at the same time as the Wii – namely the PS1. The first Sony console was a huge success in the 1990s, selling a whopping 102.5 million units. This puts the classic car in sixth place among the best-selling consoles of all time.

Unlike the PS4 or the PS1, however, the Switch is far from the end arrived. The latest model of the switch, the Nintendo Switch OLED (see Amazon), has only been available for a few months and will certainly continue the success story of the console this year. After all, there are still a few records to be broken. For example the Game Boy, which sold 118.7 million units.

On the other hand, it will be much more difficult for the Switch to catch up with the Nintendo DS. The most successful handheld of all time has sold an incredible 154.9 million copies. Only the PlayStation 2 was more successful and is considered the most successful console of all time with 157.7 million units sold. (Source: extra)
