The New iPad Pro with Mini-Led Technology Expected to Launch in Early 2021
A couple of months back, it was reported that Apple was planning to adopt the much-talked mini-LED technology in some of its devices. Now, it has been learned that the updated version of the iPad Pro, which is touted to be launched in the first quarter of this year, will be the first product from the tech giant that would boast of a mini-LED display.
What is mini-LED technology?
Mini-LED is the kind of technology that uses small-sized LEDs to enable the emission of light out of the display screen. Though this is a new and fairly innovative technology, it derives inspiration from the backlit LCD technology. While the traditional technology uses either an individual large-sized backlight or a bunch of medium-sized backlights, a large number of extremely tiny LED backlights are used in the case of mini-LED technology.
Though it was reported a while back about Apple releasing a device with the aforementioned technology, the company delayed the launch of several of its newer products or models owing to the business slowing down a bit in the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis. Along with a few of its other products, Apple was supposed to bring out the newest version of iPad Pro in the market by the end of 2020. But now with market conditions improving, it seems that Apple has finally decided to go ahead with its plans of launching a new and improved version of the iPad Pro which would feature the mini-LED technology.
Why did the launch gets delayed?
Fan Chin-Yung, who heads the operations at the display manufacturing company, has categorically stated that a lot of recently designed devices could not be approved or launched because of the pandemic. Travel restrictions also contributed towards a delay in the procurement of goods or raw material required for manufacturing electronic items or display screens.
Now, as restrictions have eased up, both production and distribution have resumed in full swing. To make up for the delay in the launch of several new products laced with new-age technology, Apple is expected to release a variety of new products and models at regular intervals in 2021. The new iPad Pro would be among those products from the company that will see an early launch this year.
Among other things, the micro-LED technology boasts of a better contrast ratio and enables sharper reproduction of images on the screen. Once the newer version of iPad Pro is launched, it would be interesting to compare the visual quality of the earlier models and the latest version.
