The most anticipated games of 2022, part one -apkrig
As in previous years, this year we have prepared a series dedicated to the most anticipated games, which you can look forward to this year. It will have several parts and we will discuss the individual favorites nicely chronologically. So, of course, we’ll start with titles that already have an exact release date. The first part is dedicated to the games, which we will see in January and February. Of course, in the following sections we will not deprive you of titles for which we do not yet know a specific date, but which are to be published sometime in 2022.
Contents
God of War, 14. ledna
Sony will continue the initiative at the beginning of the year to let players on computers also look into its portfolio of exclusive titles. After the first Horizon and Days Gone, you can look forward to the PC version of God of War from 2018 on January 14. If you haven’t had the honor yet, a narrative adventure awaits you against the background of Norse mythology, which in many places grows into a personal story of father and son. with tense and very melancholic moments. God of War was already worth it on the PS4, but the PC version comes with improved graphics, including unlocked frame rate, support for modern technologies such as Nvidia DLSS or Reflex, a wide range of settings, support for widescreen monitors and maximum freedom in control settings. This opens up a relatively generous opportunity to fully test the qualities of this game and fully prepare for the sequel to God of War Ragnarök, which should also arrive this year. But only on PlayStation.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, 20. ledna
The Rainbow Six Siege spin-off from 2015 attracts us to a tactical cooperative action in which players will fight against an alien threat. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction will be released on January 20 on PCs, new and old consoles and streaming services. You can also play alone, but you will definitely have more fun in cross-platform multiplayer for up to three players. Thanks to the buddy pass, it will also be possible to invite friends who do not have the title to the game. The authors attract us to 69 weapons, 25 gadgets, 18 operators and 12 large dynamic maps. There will be 13 different types of enemies against us and of course there is a promise of another post launch content, which will be free. According to the authors, we have different types of missions and skills upgrades. The game is primarily developed by Ubisoft Montreal and is based on the time-limited Outbreak mode for Siege. The title introduced at E3 in 2019 was repeatedly postponed, and according to the authors, it was the most difficult to combine a horde-like regime with the tactical gameplay of Rainbow Six.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus, January 28
If you like Pokémon, we don’t have to remind you too vehemently that Switch Pokémon Legends: Arceus will arrive at the end of January. The developers from the Game Freak studio have decided to handle the famous adventure in a slightly different way, adding a fully open world and new action and RPG elements to the traditional gameplay. The result is supposed to be a compelling and partly enlightening adventure that takes players back to the days before Pokémon training or the creation of a Pokémon League. Also interesting is the use of the Sinnoh region, which was the focal point of the game Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, but which takes place from the point of view of Arceus in the distant future. The world will be inhabited by wild Pokémon who are trying to survive in an inhospitable environment, and the developers suggest that Sinnoh will become a completely different place than the players remember. Another mechanism for hunting Pokémon is based on this – they will have to be tracked, their patterns of behavior monitored and then all tactics and appropriate equipment applied in order to catch them and complete the first Pokédex of the mentioned region.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human, 4. února
The Dying Light 2 Stay Human action surprise is aimed at PCs, new and older consoles, and in the cloud version also at Switch. It will be released on February 4 and the Polish studio Techland promises in all respects a larger and more ambitious continuation of the number one in 2015. After more than 20 years, we are heading to a new city, which we will explore with the help of parkour, but also thanks to an anchor and parachute. The authors are tempted by brutal and creative fights, alternating day and night influencing the enemy’s environment and behavior, as well as decisions that will have direct, far-reaching consequences for the story and the world around them. In the large open environment here, which is four times larger than in the first part, several factions will strive for power, and the main character Aiden Caldwell can choose his allies. It will also be possible to start the event in cooperation for 2 to 4 players. The title was announced at E3 in 2018, but has been postponed repeatedly.
Total War: Warhammer III, 17. února
It’s definitely nice that we have one strategy in the first part of our traditional series about the most anticipated games. After several years of waiting, on February 17 the fantasy branch of the famous Total War series will return for the third time in the world of Warhammer. The developers from Creative Assembly continue the story, in which players will follow the accession of Karl Franz to the throne of the entire Empire. But it will not be about unifying the empire – in the campaign you will take on either the rough warriors of Kislev or the great empire of Kataj – to repel the armies of Chaos and guarantee the safety of the whole country. Of course, you will be able to spit in people’s faces and start fighting from the other side of the barricade. There will be a whole host of demonic corruption to choose from – the plague god Nurgle, the lord of intemperance Slaanesh, the lord of transformations Tzeentch and, of course, the god of blood and killing Khorne. Of course, with all their adherents and domestic problems that they will have to solve before they set out for the human realm. Total War: Warhammer III will be available with Czech subtitles, and if you own the previous two episodes on the same platform, you will also have a big campaign using the entire gigantic map.
Horizon Forbidden West, February 18
Horizon Forbidden West from the Dutch studio Guerrilla Games arrives on the PlayStation 4 and 5 on February 18 and takes Aloy, accompanied by players, on a long journey. We will meet new tribes and machines and try to find out why the world is in danger of further destruction. The sequel is to offer a more colorful environment or scuba diving. We will head to the west coast of the former United States and specifically explore the territories of the former Utah, Nevada and California. The world will be bigger, the game will offer more sophisticated fights and climbing. The potential of the Decima engine is, of course, to take full advantage of the PS5 version, but it seems that the game will also look very nice on the PS4. Only the next-gen version will offer support for 3D audio, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in addition to nicer graphics.
Elden Ring, February 25
The end of February will be a holiday for all game lovers from the Japanese studio FromSoftware. The Elden Ring will see its release, from which fans will hopefully perhaps uncritically much. The collaboration of the developers under Hidetaka Mijiazaki and the GRR writer Martin has given rise to a whole new world full of monsters and untold stories. According to an example from the end of last year, we can also safely say that nothing changes in uncompromising gameplay, and regardless of the outdated technical processing, another gem is most likely to be rolled out on the player. In the Elden Ring story, players take on the role of the Defiled, who longs to become the new Elden Lord in the Middle Earth. But there will be obstacles on his way in the form of enemies and the whole vast world, in which it will be possible to move freely even with the help of a faithful steed. The developers promise an epic drama born of elaborate myths as well as a unique experience of playing with other players online. Well, make it happen!
GRID Legends, February 25
GRID Legends will park on the PC and new and older consoles on February 25. In addition to cross-platform multiplayer for 22 people, the novelty from the Codemasters studio mainly attracts the dramatic story mode Driven to Glory, which is inspired not only by the F1 game from Codies, but especially by the documentary series Formula 1: Drive to Survive. The game offers over 130 tracks including famous circuits like Brands Hatch, but we also look to metropolises like San Francisco, Paris, London or Moscow. There will be more than a hundred vehicles in various categories, including electric cars, which we will ride in this series for the first time. With the help of the Race Creator tool, it will also be possible to design your own races and their rules, even if it is not a track editor in the true sense of the word. The career will offer over 250 races and Drift and Elimination modes will return. The authors of GRID Legends presented EA Play Live 2021 at the event, and its recently announced release earlier this year was a pleasant surprise for fans.
And we are at the end of the first part of our traditional series, in which we have summarized the expected titles that will arrive in January and February. As we mentioned at the beginning, don’t be fooled that our selection currently lacks other games that should also be released in the first two months of the new year. We’ll talk about titles that don’t have a fixed release date in the last section, so don’t worry, look forward to the next batch and let us know what else you’re looking for in 2022.
