Folding smartphone Surface Duo introduced by an American company Microsoft late summer last year. Unlike other folding smartphones, it does not use a flexible display, but two displays, which did not provoke enthusiastic reactions from the public. So far, the device is only available in the US, but according to the portal GSMarena will soon reach Europe as well. What will be its price?

The imminent arrival of the Microsoft Surface Duo in Europe is confirmed by the official Microsoft store website for the United Kingdom, Germany and France. He even appeared on a Canadian mutation of the site, so his arrival in Canada should be just as good. Of course, this will certainly please many fans of this brand in these countries. But whether this will also apply to the price is questionable.

While it is not mentioned in the French version of the shop, the self-confident price tag in the German shop is 1,550 euros. It is to be sold in the UK for £ 1,350. That’s not enough for a folding smartphone that doesn’t even have a flexible display and a host of other modern technologies that the competition offers. Portal GSMarena further notes that in the US, a smartphone is currently being sold at a $ 400 discount for $ 1,000.

What will a European customer get for the price of 1550 euros?

Surface Duo is a folding smartphone, which, unlike competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G, does not use a flexible display. It uses two 5.6-inch displays with a 4: 3 aspect ratio. Once unfolded, the user receives an 8.3-inch display area with a small gap. A similar device was the Sony Tablet P in the past. Opening the folding smartphone will provide a sophisticated joint that rotates half of the device up to 360 degrees.

Two different applications can be displayed on two displays, making full use of Android multitasking. One of the displays can also serve as a software keyboard or gamepad, and the other for displaying content. As with other Surface devices, there is a Surface Pen stylus that turns your smartphone into a real work tool. Surface Duo has the same high-quality square magnesium design in white as Surface tablets. The body has a USB-C port for charging the battery with a capacity of 3577 mAh.

The update with Android 11 should arrive on the Surface Duo in the summer

The smartphone will have Microsoft applications as an MS Office package and, of course, access to Google Play store applications. Android 10 is currently reinstalled and has been modified to be used on two displays.

According to the portal WindowsCentral however, this device should receive an update to Android 11 during the summer. When exactly, but its source is not specified. It could be as early as June, but also in late summer in mid-September. The delayed update to Android 11 is quite understandable in the case of a folding smartphone with two displays due to complex adjustments.
