The Masquerade – Swansong is postponing -apkrig again

Vampire Vampire RPG: The Masquerade – Swansong is postponed from next February to May. The developers from the Big Bad Wolf studio, which also has a fairly successful episodic adventure The Council, announced this on social networks and postponed the release for the second time. Originally, we had to wait for the games on PCs and consoles this year, but in July, together with the new trailer, the February deadline was set, and now the developers are asking for a few more months without giving any specific reasons. In return, they give fans a fixed date – May 19, 2022 – and hope that all plans finally work.

“We are focused on creating a world that draws you in and will make you difficult decisions, the consequences of which you will have to live with,” the developers recall one of the main currencies of the game. But precisely because such a system can be quite complex and places considerable demands on a small team, it is necessary to devote some extra time to all the characters, choices, dialogues and just those decisions that are to shape the gameplay. “In view of this, we have made a difficult decision to postpone the release of the game from February to May,” added Big Bad Wolf on social media. They explain that they have been considering the postponement for a long time, but they did not find another solution if the game is to be of good quality and at the same time its development does not unhealthily strike a balance between work and private life of employees. “We admit that the pandemic has also confused us a bit in our planning, but this delay will allow us to fine-tune the game even better and check it carefully,” the developers added.

The paradox is that this is not the only title from the Vampire: The Masquerade series that is facing difficulties. We recently informed you about the postponement Prague battle royale games Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt and about the problems with Bloodlines 2 we also described stacks of digital paper. In the case of Swansong, however, it would not have to be anything serious, and on the contrary, there is room for expectation. It was The Council, and especially its opening episodes, that showed how imaginative the people of Big Bad Wolf can be, and even though their next title doesn’t seem to attract as much attention as the other two vampire games mentioned, there’s something to look forward to. In Swansong, we will play for three bloodthirsty vampires who will decide the fate of Boston through their actions. According to previous information, a story of betrayal and a power struggle awaits us, in which the age of playable vampires will also play a role. They have indisputable experience of more than a hundred years, which will logically affect their perception of the world and their approach to problem solving.

What’s more, Swansong is a much more ambitious title than The Council’s aforementioned adventure, promising a strong storytelling and solid RPG foundation based on the fifth edition of Vampire: The Masquerade. In addition, the developers say they are big fans of the design and have wanted to create a video game with this theme for many years. So all we have to do is wait for their efforts to turn out and be prepared for the signs on May 19. Swansong will be available on PC, both generations of PlayStation, resp. Xbox and also on Switch.
