At E3, she also heard about the retro console Intellivision Amico again, about which we have already informed several times on the Vortex. The ten-minute presentation was attended by the head of the company, Tommy Tallarico, a musician and composer who has been active in the gaming industry for over 32 years, as he himself recalled. He has participated in many well-known and successful games and now would like to return the Intellivision brand to prominence.

Amico is a new console, but with a strong emphasis on old games and especially the earlier philosophy that players should meet on one couch and enjoy the games together. Just like when playing over the internet was the music of the distant future. And the whole system, the portfolio of titles and the design of the controller are adapted to this, so that Amico can appeal not only to experienced players, but also to children, grandparents and non-players in general.

Tallarico openly says that we will not be amazed by teraflops, performance or graphics. Instead, they want to create a simple and fun machine that everyone can understand. Thanks to motion control, card games, board games, dice and the like. The titles should be simple and fun so that everyone can have fun with them. But some celebrities, such as David Perry, are also involved.

The console comes with two drivers. They have a small screen, control wheel, haptic feedback and show colors. The game can show you something on the screen that others should not see. The wheel also serves as a directional control and responds to the force of the pressure. Instead of the driver, you can also use a mobile phone with a free application. In total, you can connect up to eight drivers to the console.

With each console, players get six free games. Titles can also be shared in an interesting way with friends. You can take your controller to someone else, insert it into their base and give them access to all your games while you are with them. The controller also charges directly at the base of the console.

When you see someone playing a single, you can join them at any time in a number of titles and help them. In addition, the games will be sold not only digitally but also physically. It must not contain any loot boxes, microtransactions, advertisements or paid DLC. On the contrary, most will offer online rankings, which will have an overlap into achievements.

The authors of Ecco the Dolphin are doing Dolphin Quest, and of course some original developers are still developing a sequel to the Earthworm Jim platformer.

But Tallarico himself emphasizes that the most important part of any game system is the titles themselves. The presentation keeps them until the end. Intellivision has to choose them carefully for Amico, they all supposedly contain single and multiplayer and all of them are exclusive or offer some exclusive content. We will find improved versions of classics, such as those from Atari. But also new indie games or educational titles. Some even boast a licensed brand.
