‘The gynecologist advises against a second pregnancy, but I want another child’
Sometimes you can’t figure it out on your own and you could use some advice. So every week a reader talks about her dilemma.
Kim (34) lives with Philip (36) and is the mother of Elin (3).
“Two years before I got pregnant with Elin, I had uterine problems. The smear that followed turned out to be wrong: pap 3b. The subsequent biopsies also showed strongly abnormal cells: cin 3. A lisexsis, in which she ‘peeled off’ a piece of your cervix, followed. After that everything was fine, I was allowed to get pregnant. But when Elin was one and a half, the complaints started again.
HPV
The new smear turned out to be HPV positive, apparently I couldn’t beat the virus. And again the gynecologist found restless cells. First porridge 2, six months later again 3b. Again I received a loop excision, and the warning that this could cause problems with a new pregnancy. They might have to tie up my cervix to prevent premature birth. But above all, it would be best if I got a good result first.

Second pregnancy
That good result has not yet come. Since the second procedure, the cells in my cervix have remained restless. The gynecologist therefore advises against a new pregnancy in the short term. Pap smears during pregnancy are possible, and treatments can take place after delivery if necessary, but ideal is different.
My desire to have children is now unstoppable. My gut says: take a look, I’ll take the risk. My head knows that’s unwise. Should I take the plunge?”
