The Germans are making a new smartphone with a replaceable battery, can you guess its brand?
Nokia, Alcatel, Siemens. These are the icons from the turn of the millennium that dominated the mobile phone market. One of the things these names have in common is their origin on the old continent, the other is the infamous fate – at least as far as the production of mobile phones is concerned. We probably don’t have to remind anyone of the turbulent development at Nokia, and Alcatel only lends its name to TCL smartphones – even though it’s practically over. Siemens then packed it up with mobile phones years ago, didn’t it?

The Gigaset GS5 is a new smartphone with a replaceable battery
The Gigaset brand can be considered the spiritual successor to Siemens phones. It was established after the acquisition of the Siemens division for the production of home and office phones and currently owns a majority stake in it (somewhat paradoxically) the Chinese holding Goldin Group. In addition, Gigaset does not forget to boast of its products (assembly) directly in Germany. This is also the case with their latest addition to the smartphone portfolio in the form of a model Gigaset GS5. It is currently the best equipped smartphone of the brand, do not expect any TOP model, but a few interesting things can be found on it.
The new Gigaset GS5 Smartphone with 48 MP & removable Battery – Product Trailer
First of all, it is a relatively original design or a user-removable back cover, which has practically disappeared with current smartphones. He then hides under it user-replaceable battery with a capacity of 4,500 mAh and 3 slots – two for SIM and one for microSD card. What we probably wouldn’t expect from such a smartphone is the support of 15W wireless charging. The remaining equipment is then completely standard and fits into the gray of the lower class. For example, the Gigaset GS5 offers a 6.3 ″ IPS display with FullHD + resolution and 60Hz refresh rate and is powered by a chipset MediaTek Helio G85 supplemented by 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage
The primary camera of the Gigaset GS5 smartphone then has it 48MPx sensor and a lens with an aperture of f / 1.8. The second and at the same time the last camera on the back of the phone is then ultra-wide with a f / 2.2 lens. Among other equipment, we must also mention the fingerprint reader on the back, 3.5 mm jack or NFC. As for the software, the phone will arrive on the counters with Android 11, and so far only the promise of an update to Android 12 and 3 years of software support in the form of security updates, which also dazzles many users. The dimensions of the phone are 157.5 x 75 x 10.4 mm and its weight has stabilized at 210 grams.
However, the biggest nail in the coffin of this phone will undoubtedly be its price. How much would you be willing to pay for a similar smartphone with a replaceable battery? Let’s say 4 thousand? Unfortunately, we will have to disappoint you, because the manufacturer values it almost twice as much. The price of the Gigaset GS5 was set at € 299, ie approximately CZK 7,700.
And how do you like the Gigaset G5 smartphone?
