Even though Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 5 hasn’t been released yet, there’s already a lot of information to sink your teeth into. The new foldable model from the Korean firm should offer autonomy and photo quality as good as the Galaxy S23 for example. On the design side, we could also see that the manufacturer did not intend to radically change its formula. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 remains in line with the 4, except for one detail. Thanks to a new drop-shaped hinge, we should be able to close it without leaving any space between the two panes of the screen.

We find this kind of design on the Oppo Find N2 for example, but it’s a first for Samsung’s Z Flip range. Thanks to a rendering unveiled by leaker Roland Quandt on Twitter (since deleted), we can finally see what changes for the mobile profile. Indeed, the smaller the space, the smartphone is completely flat. This gives an impression of thinness, accentuated by the fact that the Z Flip 5 should have dimensions very slightly smaller than the 4.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 5 folds away with no gap between the screen flaps

The new hinge raises the question of the screen resistance, since the two flaps touch each other completely at each closure. Imagine the damage that a small piece of debris that you wouldn’t have seen before closing the smartphone could do. No doubt Samsung has taken this into consideration though, although it’s not yet clear what form it will take.

Beyond this feature, remember that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 should ship a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with between 8 and 12 GB of RAM depending on the models. screen 6.7-inch AMOLED with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels would be associated with a 3.4-inch external screen for a definition of 720 x 478 pixels. A nice improvement over the 1.9-inch Z Flip 4. See you in August to check it all out and test the device.
