PlayStation has all but lost the battle against Microsoft’s Activision deal. It will be particularly interesting for Xbox and PC players, because the deal could fulfill a great fan wish.

Access to the edited version of Wolfenstein (2009) is doubly difficult for German players: Not only was the Original version of the game confiscated right in the release year 2009, also the Wolfenstein part disappeared internationally from digital and physical shelves in 2014. Nowadays, the edited version, which was released in Germany with a USK from 18 years, is not so easy to find.

However, that could change with the merger of Activision Blizzard and Microsoft. The reason has nothing to do with the difficult situation of the Wolfenstein games in Germany, but with Activision and Bethesda.

Since 2014 is Wolfenstein (2009) no longer officially available and also cannot be purchased through Steam or GOG. Wolfenstein 2009 is the last game in the Wolfenstein series to be developed under Activision Blizzard – shortly after developer id Software was acquired by ZeniMax Media; the parent company of Bethesda. As most of you know, today’s Wolfenstein games are all published by Bethesda.
