The forgotten smartphone: Nokia X7-00 from 2011

In 2011, Nokia was kind of at the end of the Symbian smartphones. After all, the brand switched to the Lumia series. However, there is still plenty to report from that year. We discuss the Nokia X7-00 in this edition of ‘The forgotten smartphone’. Do you remember this device?

The Nokia X7-00 was a very nice device to see with the striking corners and the special metal design on the back. The brand wanted to show that there is still life in the Symbian smartphone. This while the device had to compete against Android and iOS devices. The Nokia X7 looked like a very sporty device with a stainless steel housing and Gorilla Glass on the front. The screen was a 4.0 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels. The type number was indicated at the top left of the screen; there was no room for a selfie camera.

That space was there at the back. There was an 8 megapixel camera with a double LED flash and the option to capture your video in 720p HD. In terms of further specifications, the Nokia X7-00 was certainly not badly equipped. There was room for 1GB of RAM, 256MB of storage space and the option to expand this with a memory card. There was a 680 MHz single-core processor and the X7-00 offered a 1200 mAh battery. However, this battery was not received equally positively everywhere. This emptied out relatively quickly for many users. Stereo speakers made the phone complete, which managed to bring a perfect sound.

The Nokia X7-00 came with the Symbian operating system. To be precise, Symbian Anna. Features that were not previously available in Symbian were added to this version, but there was still a big gap with devices that were equipped with Android and Apple iOS. There were several improvements to the interface and finally the QWERTY keyboard could be used in portrait mode, instead of just landscape. The browser has also been addressed in Symbian Anna and improved upon request. You could use the Ovi Store with the Nokia X7-00 to download applications and applications. Navigating was possible with Ovi Maps. This was not the solution for everything. For example, YouTube could only be used in the mobile website, there was no app.
