The forgotten smartphone: LG KS20 from 2008

The name LG KS20 may not immediately mean anything to you; if you see him, maybe a light will start to burn faster. Forget the Galaxy Note, in 2008 we had the LG KS20 with touchscreen and pen.

In 2008, a hip phone appeared from the LG factory. The manufacturer presented the LG KS20 more than fourteen years ago, a device that you could operate with a touchscreen and a stylus.

At the time, the LG KS20 was a high-end smartphone that was launched in 2008, succeeding the LG Viewty and LG Prada. The phone was then equipped with the latest technology and offered a number of unique features. According to some, it was a nice alternative to the Apple iPhone. Characteristic of the device was the joystick under the screen.

In terms of specifications, the LG KS20 was equipped with a 2.8 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The phone also had a built-in 2 megapixel camera, FM radio and support for Bluetooth and WiFi. GPS could not be found on the phone. Despite the fact that a Google Maps application was installed on the device.

One of the unique features of the LG KS20 was that it was a dual-SIM phone. This meant that it was possible to use two SIM cards in one phone. You could take pictures with the 2 megapixel camera on the back of the phone. There was 128MB of memory, which you could expand with a memory card.

The LG KS20 ran on the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, which meant it was possible to download a wide variety of apps and games onto the phone. Thanks to the presence of Windows, the Microsoft Office software was also installed on the device. It allowed you to create documents such as text files, as well as spreadsheets and more. Well-known games such as Bejeweled and Block Breaker were also included as standard on the device.

In terms of disadvantages, there was little to criticize about the LG KS20. A possible point of criticism was that the device was sometimes a bit slow, another point of criticism was that the device quickly filled with fingerprints. Overall it was a solid phone with good performance. The LG KS20 came to the Netherlands for about 499 euros.
