The floating keyboard in Gboard tries a new look. Do you like it?

The new design style Material You, which in recent weeks disguised almost all major Google applications, has several pending requests. One of the tools that is not yet completely covered by it is, for example, Gboard, ie a mobile Google keyboard. Some parts of it are already working in a new guise, but not all of them. Apparently, now it’s time for an element called floating keyboard. If you do not know exactly what it is, we are talking about a window that does not necessarily touch the edges of the display and can be moved for convenience.

This feature, which also has various competing tools, was launched by Google in 2018. Since then, the floating keyboard has hardly changed in terms of design, but now the visual interventions are very noticeable. As in many other cases, Material You took care of new coloring of surfaces and buttons, rounding of corners and even the “cross” for sliding the window completely disappeared. Along with this change, Google, for example, redesigned the drop-down menus for instant translations on the Gboard and appeared new icon to add your own terms to the dictionary.
