The EU is getting a cyber entity
The EU gets a common cyber entity. A digital platform is intended to connect national authorities and experts.
A common cyber unit is intended to bring together actors from the field of cybersecurity in the EU. As the European Commission announces the agency should be set up by June 30, 2022 and be fully functional one year later. The unit is supposed to take action against the increasing cyber attacks in the EU. It’s about prevention as well as a common response during an attack.
The Commission’s proposal is based on the EU’s cybersecurity strategy, which foresees such an agency.

Better coordination between states
“As momentous, large-scale cyberattacks are becoming more common and seriously affecting our security, the responses must be technically up-to-date and coordinated,” explains the Commission.
The unit is intended to bring together the resources of the member states. These include cybersecurity organizations, law enforcement, diplomacy and cyber defense communities, and the private sector.
These actors should proceed in a coordinated manner in the future. The European Cyber ββUnit is intended to offer both a virtual and a physical platform for exchange. The actors are supposed to exchange information about their constant monitoring via a digital platform. In an emergency, the experts should meet in Brussels.
