The Day 1 patch for Dying Light 2 fixes over 1000 Vortex bugs

Yesterday, we reported on Techland’s efforts to persuade players who arrived at Dying Light 2 a little earlier to wait to play, as they may encounter bugs that will disappear with the release due to the absence of a Day 1 patch. It is now known what the patch contains and it is clear that these are really crucial fixes. They cover the shortcomings that have manifested themselves in the game since the end of November, when it was announced that the game was completed in terms of content.

At the moment, there are a number of bugs in the game that can affect the game and the enjoyment itself. These include, for example, missing sounds or replicas of characters, but there may also be a process jam due to dialogues or characters not responding. According to Techland, however, more than 1,000 fixes have been made on all platforms in the last two weeks, others will of course follow gradually, and in the case of PCs, fixes will be issued without waiting for certification, ie essentially in real time as there are new and fix builds .

The details of the Day 1 patch then specifically mention, for example, fixes for blocking dialogs, Wwise memory for loading missing sounds, artificial intelligence and its immortality, items that fell to the ground, detecting drivers or interactions leading to game crashes and loading. The errors did not escape cooperation either, so re-login or a non-functional disconnection had to be fixed. In addition, the fixes include streaming mode – protection against the launch of licensed music, which, however, did not work properly and allegedly improved DLSS. This is just a brief list of bugs and fixes that Techland has made, but it is not yet known how many GB the patch will take and whether it will actually be available in the coming hours when Dying Light 2 is officially released.

However, these fixes seem to address at least some of the technical shortcomings that have been blamed on the game in the reviews released so far. At the same time, this sparked a discussion as to whether it was appropriate to provide the game for reviews without this significant patch, or to evaluate them without it, although the game had already received some fixes before the release. Dying Light 2 will be released tomorrow, February 4, on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One. The version for the Nintendo Switch will arrive a little later.
