Another smart watch in the style of Apple Watch

The company Xiaomi is successful in our country mainly with its Xiaomi Mi Band smart bracelets, but it also has a smart watch in its portfolio. It offers most of them under a separate brand Amazfit, but now it is expanding them with a model with its own Mi logo. The smart watch has been unveiled on the manufacturer’s official international website Mi.com, which confirms their introduction to the global market. Like the Apple Watch, the Mi Watch Lite has a square design with slightly rounded edges. The dimensions of the watch are 41 x 35 x 10.9 millimeters and the weight is 35 grams with a silicone strap (21 grams without it). An excellent feature is the water resistance of 5 ATM (5 atmospheres in laboratory conditions), which allows the owner to swim with a watch.

Not all important sensors for measuring health and sports activities are missing

The body is dominated by a square 1.4-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 230 x 230 pixels. You can display more than 1000 different types of clock skins on the screen, which allows the user to differentiate or present their personality. In addition to time or notifications from the smartphone, the watch can also display health and fitness functions.

Thanks to the PPG sensor, the watch measures the user’s heart rate continuously 24 hours a day. The gyroscope and accelerometer take care of measuring steps and sleep quality. The GPS / GLONASS chip and compass help measure up to 11 sports modes.

Endurance up to 9 days during normal operation

The 230 mAh battery should provide 9 days of normal operation and 11 hours of continuous route recording using a GPS chip. The manufacturer does not mention the NFC chip on its official website, so it is not possible to confirm whether the watch can make mobile payments. The watch will go on sale in 5 colors – black, navy blue, olive green, beige and pink. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not yet announced when and at what price.

What is the competition like?

Because Xiaomi has not yet announced the price of smart watches, it is difficult to determine which model they will compete with. But they will definitely be an alternative to Xiaomi models such as Amazfit GTS 2e and GTR 2e. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, which is primarily intended for owners of Galaxy smartphones, is also a very popular smart watch. Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is also a good buy, offering very good battery life.
