Germany is generally regarded as one of the largest car nations in the world. But where is the car density actually highest in this country? In our weekly ranking, we show you the federal states with the most cars per 1,000 inhabitants.

More than 48.7 million Cars are currently registered in Germany. Despite the turnaround in traffic, this is a new record. But: In which federal state is the car density actually the highest?

These federal states have the highest car density

The analysis platform extra has determined the number of registered cars per 1,000 inhabitants in all federal states of Germany. In the following ranking we present you the results.

16th place: Berlin

Although Berlin is the capital of Germany, it is in last place in the ranking of the federal states with the highest car density. 337 Cars are allowed there per 1,000 inhabitants. This makes it clear that the majority of the residents can get by without their own car.
