“It was our first camping holiday, in France. Borre was a toddler. We rented a bungalow tent with two sleeping cabins. On one of the first evenings we were making love. We were silent. Not because of our son, who even sleeps through heavy metal music, but because the tents were quite close together.

Beginner mistake

Still, we made a huge rookie mistake. At the headboard lay an LED-light flashlight. That way we could see each other. We forgot that because of this we were also visible to the fellow camping guests.

After we had been raging for an hour and I crawled out of the tent to go to the toilet, I looked straight into the eyes of my French neighbor. ‘Oh la la’he said with a grin. ‘C’était une belle pantomime.’ Then we had to stand there for another twelve days.”
